Jane: Where are you from Originally?
Jaden Tang : Originally I am from China. Living in a democratic family where my parents respect my ideas and encourage me to chase what I like. I have many chances to get in touch with various new things, in the process of which I fell in love in photography. Since I got a camera from myself, it has become an indispensable partner in my life, with which I could capture the beautiful moments and freeze them.
Jane: Give me a brief description of your career trajectory – professionally trained or not, opportunities that led to breakthroughs.
Jaden Tang: As an aim-driven individual with keen interest in fashion photography, I spend most of my spare time on it. To achieve my career ambition, I need to receive more specialized and systematic study to gain a deeper understanding of fashion photography and acquire a broader global perspective of this field. I decided to move to Paris from my native country since 2017. France is a romantic country full of artistic atmosphere. As the “candle of artists”, it has many famous art colleges, with an enormous ambition and positive passion of art, I graduated from Paris International Institute of Photography successfully.

Jane: How does your background affect your work?
Jaden Tang: I have accumulated 5-year work experience as a visual designer. My job not only requires me to have strong ability in design but more importantly has a high standard in my taste to fashion and beauty, which also have been greatly improved through my past work experiences.
As for me, with my previous work experiences, high talent and firm resolve to succeed, I am confident in my preparedness to undertake a new level of academic experience in the photography program and contribute to the community.
Jane: Is there anything else you’d like to share with the creative image makers community?
Jaden Tang: I think all forms of arts are interlinked, like painting, costume design and even cooking. I like cooking very much. Cooking and photography share some common places. The former pursues attracting color, good smell and great taste, and the latter needs to take many elements into consideration to reach visual beauty, real emotion and good effect of expression. Art requires rich imagination and creativity, which is exactly the most interesting part.

Jane: What makes an image iconic?
Jaden Tang: In my opinion Iconic means unique, meaningful and timeless. Think about some of the most iconic photographs of all time. The American sailor kissing a nurse in Time Square. Marilyn Monroe standing on a subway grate with her skirt blowing up. The Vietnamese girl running without clothes down the highway after a misdirected napalm attack. Today’s ‘iconic’ images could have some meaning and cultural impact in the future. But adorned by an oversupply of photos in our daily lives. The word’s used has become more synonymous in separating great photos from good ones, whereas it should be about identifying unforgettable images.
